Synopsis：

The two brothers, Shin-shiung and Shin-jih and their mother rely on each other for survival. When Shin-shiung is about to go to senior high (school), Shin-jih is involved in a conflict with the U.S. officers. Decisively, Shin-shiung makes himself a scapegoat for his brother and is sent into a reformatory, a place that leads him to another world. After leaving the reformatory, Shin-shiung is jobless and despised. To make a living, he joins a gang and soon becomes one of the leaders of the gang.

Shin-jih is a man of simpleness and integrity. He has had an ambition to become a justice defender since he was young. He gets into a police academy later. Despite his ambition and vigor, he is always bullied by his colleagues. He always bears these frustrations for a better chance to perform his duties.

Though a gang boss, Shin-shiung is a soft-hearted man who adheres to the spirit of royalty, piety, honest and justice. He takes the protection fees from the vendors on one hand and works hard to "maintain the local order" in his way. He has thus developed a very good relationship with the law enforcement unit. He wants to protect Shin-jih while concealing his real status as mafia head. After Shin-jih learns the truth, the ensuing conflicts bring them extreme pains.

Guiju, a teahouse owner, has fallen in love with Shin-shiung who loves Yue-gui. The jealous Guiju sells Yue-gui to prostitution as the triangle relationship is entangled with ceaseless passions.

The power of love and the conflicts with his brother make Shin-hsiung want to quit as a gangster. How can he return from this no-return path and start a new life?

信雄和信志兩人與母親相依為命，信雄高中放榜時，因信志捲入美國軍官的是非，信雄毅然為信志頂罪進入感化院，將他導入了另外一個世界裡。離開感化院之後，找不到工作、受人歧視，為了養家活口，加入了鐵枝的關廟幫，很快的成為關廟幫的重要老大。

信志個性單純、正直，從小就立志要維護正義，之後考上警校，雖充滿活力及抱負，但經常被同僚欺負，為了力求表現總是忍氣吞聲。

信雄身為黑道大哥，卻有顆柔軟的心，闡揚「忠孝信義」的精神；雖收取保護費，卻致力維護地方治安，他在黑白兩道都很吃得開，一方面希望保護信志，另一方面又要隱瞞自己是黑道老大，最後紙包不住火，信志得知後雙方衝突不斷，使得雙方都痛苦不堪。

貴珠－茶室老闆娘，對信雄已芳心暗許，但是信雄卻愛上月桂，讓貴珠由愛生恨將月桂賣入私娼寮中，這三人的愛恨情仇不斷的糾結。

信雄因愛情的力量，加上和信志的衝突，讓他想脫離黑道，但黑道是條不歸路，他該如何浪子回頭？如何開始嶄新的人生？
